Inclement Weather Plan for Grades 3-5
Dear Halethorpe Elementary Parents of 3rd to 5th graders--
If schools are closed for inclement weather for more than three days, BCPS moves to the Virtual Learningmodel. In this case, Virtual Learning would not be implemented unless we were still out of school on THURSDAY.
Attached you will find a choice board of activities offering learning experiences that students can complete at home, as well as direction.If virtual learning is implemented, starting on Thursday teachers in grades 3 – 5 will hold Google Meet sessions. Sessions will be held at 11:15 am and 2:00 pm. Students have learned how to log on to Google Meet for synchronous learning time. Behavioral expectations for appropriate use and participation in Google Meets were shared, including the use of chat, mute, and video functions.
Please help your child find a space in your home to log on being mindful of what you are sharing in the background. Devices are the property of BCPS and are to be used for educational purposes only. Each device is equipped with monitoring software, so please supervise your child’s use of the device.
Devices and chargers must be properly cared for and returned on the FIRST DAY when we return to school. The devices are needed for daily instruction and schoolwide assessment. Any device or charger that is lost or damaged will incur a fine.
