PTA

Dear Families—

Our PTA met for elections this week. Our current board members have fulfilled their terms. Despite months of recruitment efforts, we currently do not have any candidates to move this work forward. At a minimum, the PTA requires three board members: President, Treasurer and Recording Secretary.

Here are some of the things our PTA has done for us just this school year!

  • Sponsored many Family Fun events, such as Popsicles and Play, Trunk or Treat, Paint Night, Bingo Night, and (soon) Artscape
  • Provided support for Activity Day and Kite Night
  • Coordinated the sale of Spirit wear and Fifth Grade T-shirts
  • Provided a Back-to-School breakfast for teachers
  • Donated a microwave for our faculty room
  • Made donations for classroom supplies to teachers who are members of the PTA
  • Celebrate our teachers during Teacher Appreciation Week (upcoming)
  • Organized Spirit Nights at local establishments
  • Provide an annual scholarship to a graduating senior who is a former Halethorpe student
  • Organized fun fundraising events—World’s Finest Chocolate, Pumpkin Raffle, Holiday Shoppe, Joe Corbi
  • Volunteered for school events
  • And much, much more!!

All of this will go away if the PTA goes dormant. The PTA is a big part of who we are as a school community and we want it to succeed for the benefit of our students, staff, and families.

We need your help!

If you are willing to take an active role and join the PTA in any capacity, we would love to have you. No experience is necessary — just a desire to contribute to the well-being of our school community.

Below is a description of the roles and responsibilities of the three mandatory board members. There are opportunities for more, but these are the minimum required. Our current board is willing to help onboard new members. If you are willing to join, please reach out to the PTA at [email protected] or to me, school principal Lisa DeDeo, at [email protected] or 443-809-1406.

Thank you for considering this request! We look forward to hearing from you!

Sincerely,

Lisa DeDeo
